The most dangerous moment in a burner’s operation is the few seconds around ignition. Fuel is injected, the spark strikes, and the flame must light — immediately. If it does not, no more fuel may flow. Supervising exactly that, at every single start, is the job of the control box and the flame detector — and this is where Honeywell, with its Satronic heritage, has its strength.
The control box manages the sequence and checks the flame within a fixed safety time. The DKO and TF series handle oil burners, the DKG series handles gas burners, and several compact and combined controls cover everything in between. The flame detector is chosen to match flame and fuel: the IRD series reads the flicker of the oil flame in infrared, MZ and UVZ work in UV, and the photocells suit light oil and gas. The ignition transformer delivers the spark that starts it all. Together they form the burner’s safety circuit — the parts that absolutely must work for a start to be safe.
Two things make Honeywell/Satronic important for Nordic, marine and offshore projects. First, the name sits in a very large installed base — across Scandinavia and throughout the UK, where generations of oil burners have carried a Satronic control box — so the right spare part is in demand everywhere. Second, control boxes and flame detectors are typical safety and wear parts: they get replaced, they get modernised, and then it has to be exactly the right type. At sea that goes double — marine and offshore installations set their own strict requirements for ignition and flame supervision. The components are fuel-independent and run just as safely on renewable HVO as on conventional heating oil.
At Arne Nielsen A/S we carry Honeywell/Satronic as spares for the installed base of burners in industry, process and heat production. Want to know which control box, flame detector or ignition transformer fits your burner? Write to us at info@arnenielsen.dk — we will identify the exact model from the catalogue together.
