A hot water pressure washer is really a small oil burner on wheels. The burner heats the water, and at the heart of it sits an oil pump that has to cope with everything a boiler in a plant room never sees: moisture, spray water, cleaning agents, transport – and an operator who starts the machine before the tank has been filled.
Danfoss Burner Components has just announced that one of the world’s leading manufacturers of cleaning equipment has chosen the new BFM pump for its next generation of mobile hot water pressure washers. The manufacturer was brought in while the pump was still in development, so real-world requirements shaped it from the start.
What the BFM pump offers
- 6 mm shaft that fits the existing design without modification
- 90° angled electrical connector for installations with very little space
- Enhanced IP protection on cable and connector against moisture, spray water and cleaning agents
- Dry-run capability – confirmed in the manufacturer’s own tests
- Compatible with six existing pump types from other makes
- Available as a Bio100-ready version for renewable fuels
According to Hrvoje Ulakovic, Key Account Manager at Danfoss Burner Components, it was the combination of technical fit, robustness and well-thought-out integration that gave the customer the confidence to build its next machine generation around the pump.
The same demands in mobile heating
These demands are not unique to pressure washers. Mobile heaters on building sites, in livestock sheds and in warehouses live the same life: they are moved about, stand in damp and dust, and are occasionally started on a nearly empty tank. So it is good news for the whole mobile sector when components are developed for exactly those conditions. See, for example, the Thermobile range in our webshop.
Ready for the green transition
The fact that the BFM is available Bio100-ready is worth noting. The fuel in the tank is changing – in the UK the debate is about HVO – and the components have to keep up, in the plant room and on wheels alike.
