Ferroli GN2 N and GN4 N: cast-iron boilers for large systems – and the last units in stock

Ferroli’s GN series are the large cast-iron boilers for oil and gas forced-draught burners in residential blocks, institutions and commercial buildings. Here are the technical key figures for GN2 N and GN4 N, what you need to know about the replacement rules – and why now is the time to act if you have a system that needs a new boiler.

GN2 N: 87–252 kW in a compact package

GN2 N is a floor-standing cast-iron boiler with partial flame reversal and one flue pass, designed for oil and/or gas forced-draught burners.

  • Output: from 87–107 kW (GN2 N 06) up to 199–252 kW (GN2 N 14)
  • Boiler body: G20 cast iron with 6–14 sections, factory pre-assembled with steel cone inserts and studs
  • Insulation: rock wool with tear-proof lining
  • Operating pressure: max. 6 bar
  • Connections: flow and return DN80 (3″), drain 3/4″
  • Dimensions: 600 mm wide and 1196 mm high in all sizes. Only the depth grows with the number of sections (757–1637 mm).
  • Low flue-side resistance: 0.4 mbar in the combustion chamber on all sizes
  • Control panel: thermo-hydrometer, safety thermostat, 2-stage control thermostat, main switch, burner lockout indicator and space for an electronic controller
  • Ready for 2-stage burners

The boiler is delivered in three packages: boiler body in a wooden crate, jacket and instrument panel in separate boxes. The narrow 600 mm width makes the GN2 N easy to get through a standard boiler-room door.

GN4 N: 120–650 kW with three flue passes

GN4 N is the big brother with three flue passes and a cooled combustion chamber, for the really large systems.

  • Output: from 120–200 kW (GN4 N 07) up to 390–650 kW (GN4 N 14)
  • Efficiency: up to approx. 97 % at 30 % load and 92–93 % at full load
  • Low-temperature operation: suitable for traditional systems or low-temperature systems with a minimum return temperature of 35 °C
  • Sectional design: the boiler body is assembled in the boiler room, so even the largest sizes can be brought in through narrow access routes. Ferroli offers a dedicated section assembly tool.
  • Operating pressure: max. 6 bar
  • Connections: flow and return DN80 (3″) plus separate DN80 connections for a low-temperature circuit
  • Width and height: 850 × 1193 mm, depth 1040–1950 mm
  • Ready for 2-stage burners, with space for a flue gas thermostat and electronic controller

Important: replacement of the same model

Under the EU ecodesign rules (Regulation 812/2013), the GN2 N and the smallest GN4 N sizes (07–10) may only be sold in the EU as a replacement of an identical model. This means:

  • If a customer has a GN2 N or GN4 N that is worn out, it can be replaced with the same boiler – same dimensions, same connections and same burner set-up.
  • It saves time in the boiler room: no re-piping, no new base adaptation and no new access routes.
  • In many cases the existing burner can be reused if it is in good condition.

Always check the rating plate on the old boiler before ordering.

Remaining stock: only a few units left

Arne Nielsen A/S holds the remaining stock of the Ferroli GN series. Only a few units are left, and once they are sold, they are gone.

Do you have a customer with an older GN2 N or GN4 N in the boiler room, or a boiler you know will need replacing soon? Then now is the time to act.

Write to info@arnenielsen.dk with the model and number of sections, and we will check what we have on the shelf. We also supply Ferroli spare parts and burners from Oilon, Riello and our other brands.
